After moving to Everton from Besiktas, Cenk Tosun’s challenge is to help Everton solve their Premier League goal deficit.
Everton have signed Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun on a four-and-a-half-year contract in a bid to ease their goalscoring woes.
The Toffees sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75m in the last transfer window but have struggled to fill the Belgian's shoes, scoring just 25 goals in 22 Premier League games.
But manager Sam Allardyce's attacking options have been strengthened with the club reportedly having agreed a £25m transfer deal with Super League champions Besiktas for Tosun.
The deal was announced at half-time of the Toffees' FA Cup third-round tie with neighbours Liverpool at Anfield on Friday.
"It feels great to be an Everton player," Tosun told evertontv. "I'm very happy to be here and I'm very happy that everything is over. I'm really excited to play for Everton as soon as possible. Everton is a great club with a great history and great culture, and I'm looking forward to showing the fans what kind of player I am."
"I brought my skills here and everyone will see what kind of player I am. I believe I can be a good player for Everton in the Premier League.
"I know the Premier League is a strong league, so my own physical strength will help me. And I can attack with both feet, and I believe I am a good penalty area striker. "
"I'm really looking forward to training with my teammates and getting to know them, and of course, I hope to play as soon as possible. The game against Tottenham will be the first game I can play, and I'm already very excited about it. ”
Tosun scored 20 goals in 33 league games last season as Besiktas won the title and has scored another eight goals in 16 games this season.
Born in Germany, Tosun began his career at Eintracht Frankfurt before moving to Gaziantepspor in January 2011. The Turkey international then moved to Besiktas ahead of the 2014-15 season.
Everton's poor start to the season led to Ronald Koeman being sacked in October. However, despite a four-match winless run, Everton have revived strongly under Sam Allardyce and climbed to ninth in the table.
